Pango Cars Data
Russians, when choosing used cars in April of this year, preferred the Kia brand, according to experts from the Pango Cars automotive system.
This South Korean brand accounted for 13.4% of all sales on the secondary market. The domestic Lada (12.6%) is in second place with a slight lag. Third place went to Hyundai (12.0%), having been second a month earlier. The top 5 most popular used cars are rounded out by Renault (6.3%) and Nissan (6.0%).
The sales leader was the Hyundai Solaris model. The top three most popular also included Kia Rio and Lada Vesta. As for price segments, the greatest demand was for used cars costing from 500 thousand to 1 million rubles — they accounted for 32.6% of all transactions. Every fourth car enthusiast (25.4%) purchased a used car for 1–1.5 million rubles. 14.6% of buyers gave less than 500 thousand rubles, and more than 2 million rubles — only 11.7%.

Almost half (47%) of Russian citizens preferred to buy cars with mileage from 50 to 150 thousand km in April. Every fifth person chose cars with mileage over 200 thousand km, every fifth — with a mileage of 150–200 thousand km. Only 14% was limited to vehicles traveling less than 50 thousand km.
Pango Cars expects a short-term increase in demand, first for new cars, and then — for used ones due to the possible summer indexation of the recycling fee for passenger cars. Increasing prices due to innovations will encourage some buyers to switch to the secondary market 2–3 months after the new rules come into effect.
