The Ural Civil Aviation Plant will produce engines

Production of engines for the heavy transport aircraft An-124 «Ruslan» will be established in Russia. Sergei Shoigu announced this today.

«At present, serial production of Russian D-18T engines is being mastered [for An-124] , which is scheduled to begin in the 4th quarter of 2027», — he said.

The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) will produce the D-18T — developer of passenger aircraft LMS-901 «Baikal» and TVRS-44 «Ladoga». Now UZGA «is implementing measures for import substitution of Ukrainian-made engine elements».

Initially, the production of the D-18T was carried out by the Zaporozhye Engine Plant, but with the collapse of the USSR, production ceased. For this reason, no new An-124s have been produced since 2024. Production of the D-18T in Russia will allow not only the assembly of new aircraft, but also more active use of existing ones.
