Take-Two, during its latest financial report, shared statistics on the number of current generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles sold.
If you believe the figures from analytical reports companies IDG Consulting and Newzoo, as well as data from the Entertainment Software Association, which Take-Two itself refers to, then Sony managed to sell over 50 million PlayStation 5 consoles. Considering that the total number of gaming devices sold as of December 2023 was 77 million, then Microsoft and its Xbox were left far behind.
According to Ampere Analysis, in 2023 alone, for every Xbox Series console sold, there were three PlayStation 5s.
