First at several stations

At SPIEF 2024, President and Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank Andrey Kostin and Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov signed a cooperation agreement. The document provides for the development of payment services for paying for travel on public passenger transport in St. Petersburg.

As part of the agreement, a pilot project will be launched to introduce fare payment using biometrics in the St. Petersburg metro. During the pilot project at several stations, passengers will have access to payment using biometrics, and the reliability and fault tolerance of the system will be ensured.

As a result, participants will share their experience of using a new method of paying for travel. After that «Petersburg Metro» will decide to replicate the technology to other metro stations in St. Petersburg.
