The company removed three phases
The GeForce RTX 4080 Super video card has entered the market. It differs quite little from the regular version, except for the price. At the same time, as it turned out, the reference version of the Founders Edition has fewer power phases than the RTX 4080 FE.
If the RTX 4080 FE has 16 phases in the power subsystem, then the RTX 4080 Super FE has only 13. In addition, one phase has disappeared at the power connector. As a reminder, the RTX 4080 Super has slightly more CUDA cores than the regular model. At the same time, their TDP is identical. However, and this was also not immediately noticed, Nvidia itself notes on its website that the average consumption in games for the RTX 4080 Super is slightly less: 246 W versus 251 W.
In general, such a reduction should not have any critical effect on the card, and for strong overclocking, in any case, it is better to choose a non-reference 3D card. However, it shows that Nvidia has made savings in ways no one expected.
