Yesterday, an American startup presented the Rivian R2 SUV, and it was the expected premiere. But what no one expected was the compact Rivian R3: the creators published many photos of the new product from all sides, and many saw this electric SUV… domestic classic «Niva»!

In fact, the Rivian R3 is compared not only to the Niva, but also to the classic hatchbacks of the 80s and 90s of the last century (for example, the Volkswagen Golf MK2). The new product is similar to them in the characteristic slope of the front and rear pillars, as well as the design of the rear part. But comparisons with «Niva» — most frequent.
There are very few details about the Rivian R3 yet. It is only reported that it shares the platform with the R2 model, but the wheelbase will be approximately 13 cm less (that is, it will be something around 2800 mm). The younger model will also receive options with one, two and three motors. Moreover, Rivian R3X — some semblance of a modern T2 category rally car: the car will have three engines, larger wheels and slightly increased ground clearance.
