COMAC has already assembled four serial C919

China is betting big on its own C919 medium-haul airliner, and COMAC, its manufacturer, does not disappoint: the company has already assembled four production C919s. Taking into account the six previously released prototypes, ten COMAC C919 are already flying in the skies over China.

Flight testing of the fourth production aircraft C919 started this week: the first flight of the aircraft with serial number 00010 took place on Monday, November 20.

The first production COMAC C919 (serial number 00007) was delivered to China Eastern Airlines at the end of 2022, but the airliner made its first commercial flight only on May 28, 2023. Since May 29, it has been operating daily flights from Shanghai to Chengdu and back.

The second production C919 (00008) took to the skies on May 8, 2023 and was handed over to China Eastern Airlines on July 16. Since August 2, it has been operating flights on the same route Shanghai – Chengdu – Shanghai.

The third production S919 (00009) took off on September 9. It was supposed to be put into operation in October, but the airliner is still carrying out test flights.

China Eastern Airlines should have five production COMAC C919s by the end of this year. And, most likely, this will be the case, only the fifth aircraft will begin the route in 2024.
