Sales of the updated Lada Vesta NG, equipped with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) in combination with a 1.8 EVO engine, recently started. AvtoVAZ held a presentation for its dealerships on the features of the new transmission, developed and produced with an eastern partner. Such a variator is installed on Chery.
The manufacturer positions this variator as a modern and reliable solution, adapted to Russian operating conditions and capable of effectively realizing the capabilities of the modernized VAZ 1.8 EVO engine. Among the key characteristics of the transmission are 7 virtual gears, a maximum torque of 180 Nm, a modern steel belt, a highly efficient vane pump, independent control of the hydraulic circuit and an increased volume of transmission oil (7.2 l) with a low temperature threshold (-40°C) ).
AvtoVAZ emphasizes the advantages of the CVT, including comfort, handling, fuel economy, smooth starting, high acceleration dynamics, acceleration without shocks and jolts, quick response and acoustic comfort. Independent hydraulic circuit control ensures precise operating pressure for each system, increasing the efficiency, stability and control accuracy of CVT operating modes.
Highly efficient vane pump with integrated flow control valve allows for 30% more efficient oil use compared to cycloidal oil pumps, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced system heat load. Low-speed lock-up and a new type of torque converter with slip function eliminate hydraulic losses, providing a balance of power and economy at low speeds, and also effectively implement engine braking.
The modern steel belt and efficient design of the variable speed belt wheel mechanism allow for an extended range of gear ratios from 0.718 to 6.38. New technology for laser processing of the edges of steel strips increases their durability, and the optimized shape of the elements increases transmission efficiency and reduces operating noise.
