The genre of Soulslike games is becoming more and more popular. Thanks to FromSoftware, many studios have tried their hand at this genre, including Lies of P and Stellar Blade. But not in Black Myth: Wukong. One of the previews says that this is not a soulslick.
The preview from Pure Xbox reports that, judging by impressions, Black Myth: Wukong is not quite Souls, although it may seem the opposite:
“It's simpler than traditional Soulslikes and a cross between them and a combat RPG.”
Souls games are often known for being harsh and unforgiving. It doesn't look like Sun Wukong's adventures will follow the same pattern.
Pure Xbox found out that the timing of dodges in this game is gentle. This may be due to the lack of special block mechanics. The game also features stances that are not found in regular Soulslike games. Therefore, comparisons with a combat role-playing game that borrows some elements of the genre are quite logical.
In addition, the hero Sun Wukong transforms into other creatures, which will add depth to the battles.
Soulslides are usually criticized for their difficulty, but Black Myth: Wukong focuses on entertainment, which can attract a large audience.
