Retail sales of Toyota vehicles produced through the FAW Toyota joint venture in 2023 were 800,018 units, up 4.1% year-on-year.
FAW Toyota representatives confirmed that electrified models accounted for 284,983 units, or about 35.6%. High-end models sold 398,075 units or 49.8%.
At the same time, the production of FAW Toyota vehicles in 2023 reached 802,666 units, of which the production of hybrid models increased by 27%, the production of new energy models overall increased by 187%.
According to previous reports from Reuters and Japanese news agency Jiji, Toyota Motor has announced that it will stop part of its production in Tianjin, China. We are talking about some obsolete production lines of the joint venture between Toyota and FAW.
Toyota said: «The reason for stopping the production line is to optimize the production system to take into account aging models and changes such as body type».
