The latest Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon was very different from where the franchise began. It seems that Ubisoft has thought about it and decided to change its approach
The Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise has been around for many years. Ubisoft experimented with the shooter formula and it came to the controversial Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint (2019) and the battle royale Ghost Recon Frontline was almost released, but it was canceled.
Judging by the data sources insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft will try to bring the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise back into action with a new project, codenamed “Project Ovr/Over”.
As stated, the events of the new Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon will take place during a certain fictional “Nyman War”. “Naiman” is a southeastern country where hundreds of thousands of people died during the conflict.
The new Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon will supposedly be a tactical shooter, reminiscent of military simulators. The Call of Duty Modern Warfare series, Battlefield, Squad and Ready or Not (a special forces simulator) are cited as sources of inspiration.
Ubisoft should return to the first-person view. In the story, the elite squad “Ghosts” will infiltrate the war zone to carry out secret missions and search for a traitor.
Dark and controversial missions are expected. For example, during one of the missions, the player's squad almost shot a man with a child in his hands, because the soldiers initially mistook him for a bomb.
Currently, a new Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is being planned release in 2025-2026 (this is an internal date and everyone can replay or cancel the project altogether).
