The Need for Speed racing series has been in storm for many years, but it still has a lot of fans and some are guided by it
Izvestia journalists drew attention to the fact that Russia is developing a domestic Need for Speed. Students of the Don State Technical University (DSTU) are responsible for the project.
The authors of the Need for Speed analogue use the Unity engine and the C3 programming language to work. They already have a demo version, and they plan to release the game in two years: “We have already prepared a prototype of the game, where gamers will have to engage not only in racing, but also in the construction of new territories for races.”
The developers see the main problem of existing modern racing games as high system requirements for the PC, while less demanding ones are “scarred from the point of view of the graphical component.” They also managed to find an approach in which the race “will look good, but at the same time work on weak computers and Android smartphones.”
The unnamed Russian analogue of Need for Speed is positioned as an online simulator with construction elements. Players will form teams and conquer new areas. The winners will have the opportunity to build tracks to hone their racing skills. Attention is also paid to tuning: after winning, the racer will be able to improve the car, for example, install a new engine, spoiler, etc.
There will be no real cars in the game. The developers look back at the experience of Rockstar Games with the Grand Theft Auto series, where they offer “their” models (the existing models are similar to real ones, but have different names).
