Mikoyan OKB is already developing draft and design documentation
The United Aircraft Corporation spoke about the creation of a completely new Russian MiG-UTS aircraft, which will be used for pilot training. The new product is designed to replace Czech L-39 aircraft, the maintenance of which has been made difficult (or even impossible) by Western sanctions.
Proposed by the designers of «MiG» The pilot training concept includes three stages and three aircraft. Initially, cadets will undergo training on the Yak-152 or UTS-800. For basic training it is proposed to use the MiG-UTS, and the Yak-130 will be used to improve skills. It is interesting that the AI-222-25 engine from the Yak-130 was chosen as the power plant for the MiG-UTS. True, it will be slightly modified: the thrust on the ground in combat mode will be 2.5 tons (which is significantly more than on the L-39) and an additional mode with a thrust of 2.3 tons will appear, which will increase the life of the power plant.
«The aircraft should be extremely simple in design. There should not be any complex materials that are difficult to repair. This conditionally should be an all-terrain vehicle-tractor that can be repaired literally in the field using available means. And it shouldn’t break», — Alexey Shukaylo, chief designer of the MiG-UTS training complex, explained the approach to creating a new aircraft.
Characteristics of the MiG-UTS have already been determined: length — 11,654 m, wingspan — 10.06 m, height — 4.07 m. The empty weight of the MiG-UTS will be within 3.5 tons, the fuel weight — 850 kg, take-off weight with full fuel and two pilots — 4.56 tons. MiG-UTS can carry a payload of up to 1000 kg. The aircraft's service life will be 8750 flight hours.
