Hellblade 2's combat is inspired by Game of Thrones

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is notable for its combat scenes, which were completely recorded during motion capture sessions and fully convey the movements of the actors. These are not animated scenes, so any blows from the sword or enemy will be felt, and the main character will have a hard time with each encounter.

All movements – running, climbing, fighting – are based on real movements, will be consistent and real. The key was to make combat part of the journey, which studio head Dom Matthews explained.

Combat is designed to give players a sense of each opponent's capabilities. In one-on-one fights, players will not feel like Senua is untouchable.

“The reason we chose one-on-one combat is because “We want Senua to feel overwhelmed in every fight.”,” said fight director Benoit Macon.

Ninja Theory modeled the fight after one of the most brutal fights featured in Game of Thrones, involving Jon Snow. It was shown at the end of Season 6 of the series.

“He's in the middle of this battle and he's just reacting to everything that's thrown at him. When we started working on the game, our goal was to recreate this in a game with full player control.”
