The other day, Russian users began to report that the official Google Play service began to warn that the 2GIS application — malicious. The company's press service clarified the situation by publishing an official comment.
As 2GIS representatives assured, the application is not malicious at all. The press service explained:
Such notifications are related to Google's security policy and are the same for all applications that are temporarily unavailable on Google Play.
The company recommends not deleting 2GIS, but simply ignoring the notification from Google Play:
Do not delete 2GIS. Swipe the notification that appears or press the back arrow on your phone. The application is safe and does not harm your phone.
2GIS also talked about the permissions that the application requests:
We ask for access to the microphone and calls so that you can fully use 2GIS — give commands to the voice assistant and call organizations directly from the application. We do not ask for access to call logs. About SMS — we do not have access to all SMS. The system gives us only our SMS messages, which we use for authorization codes.
