Ford aims to retain buyers with attractive offers for Tesla owners
At the beginning of this month, Ford announced a special program providing owners of Tesla cars with additional discounts on the purchase of certain Ford models. According to Ford Authority, an additional $1,500 discount is available on the purchase of an F-150 Lightning truck or Mustang Mach-E crossover.
The original source of the news, the Ford Authority portal, received confirmation of the launch of the program from a company representative. According to the message, the program started on April 3 and will be valid until July 8 of this year.
To receive a discount, Tesla owners do not need to exchange their cars, they just need to present documents confirming ownership of a Tesla. The discount is called Tesla Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash.
In addition, according to CNBC, on Thursday Ford announced a price cut for the F-150 Lightning truck model. According to the publication, prices for these models have decreased from $2000 to $5500, depending on the configuration.
Currently, starting prices for 2024 for the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E are $54,995 and $39,995, respectively. While Tesla's most affordable car, the Model 3, costs $38,990, the Cybertruck electric pickup starts at $60,990.
This isn't the first time Ford has responded to competition from Tesla. Last year, the company faced pressure from a competitor to aggressively cut prices on electric vehicles. In this regard, measures were taken to reduce prices and a strategic change in plans for the development of electric vehicle production.
Last December, Ford announced it would cut production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck, and suspended deliveries in February of this year. However, according to CNBC, the company resumed shipping of this model on Thursday.
