DJI enters the portable power market in the US and Europe with the release of the Power 1000 and Power 500, intended for both home use and field work.
The devices can be used to power small appliances or charge laptops, or even drones, and can be combined with solar panels.
The
13 kg Power 1000 has a capacity of 1024 Wh and can output up to 2200 W – enough to run a home microwave for about 1.3 hours or a car refrigerator for 19 hours, or, for example, charge the drone up to 12 times. The 7.3kg Power 500 has a 512Wh capacity and 1000W output for half the price ($500).
The larger version supports 1200W fast charging or 600W standard charging (540W and 270W for the smaller version). Both can be charged in 70 minutes to 100% battery charge or in 50 minutes to 80%. Along with the standard power plugs, both have a pair of USB-C PD output ports that support 140W/100W charging for Power 1000/Power 500—enough for most laptops.
The market is quite saturated with such devices (Jackery, Bluetti, Anker and others), but DJI considers their devices the ideal way to charge their drones and other products. Released in China in December, they were already available in the US on Amazon and in other countries through the gray market.
