This time without OCuLink connector, but with support for USB4
GPD introduced an updated Win Mini console — model 2024. Compared to the previous version, it has two noticeable innovations: AMD Ryzen 8000 processors and a new screen like the Asus ROG Ally.
The console in the basic version is equipped with a 6-core Ryzen 5 8640U, in the top version — 8-core Ryzen 7 8840U. Accordingly, in the first case, the user receives a less powerful iGPU Radeon 760M with 8 execution units, in the second iGPU is more powerful — This is a Radeon 780M with 12 execution units.
GPD says that due to the use of LPDDR5-6400 memory, the top version is superior in its computing capabilities to the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, but what exactly does this mean (it would be good if the computing capabilities matched gaming performance) and what is the comparison with (with mobile or discrete version of GeForce GTX 1660 Ti), unclear.
The amount of RAM is 16, 32 or 64 GB. Neither Asus ROG Ally, nor Lenovo Legion GO, nor Steam Deck have versions with 64 GB of RAM.
As for the display, the GPD Win Mini 2024 received an IPS panel with a diagonal of 7 inches, Full HD resolution, frame rate of 120 Hz, maximum brightness of 500 cd/sq.m. The screen supports VRR, and support for FreeSync Premium is also announced. The display is protected by tempered Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Unlike last year’s model, Win Mini 2024 does not have an OCuLink connector; USB4 is offered as a replacement. The cost of the basic version with a Ryzen 7 8840U processor — $880.
