Welding the Vesta body takes 4 hours
AvtoVAZ spoke about the body of the domestic flagship Lada Vesta NG. It turns out that for the production of the restyled machine, 82 dies were modernized and 38 new ones were introduced, and 26 new welding stands also appeared.
The move from Izhevsk to Togliatti led to an almost complete reformatting of welding technology. At the moment it is carried out by specialists and 82 robots; it takes about 4 hours to weld one body with approximately 5000 points.
The Lada Vesta body consists of 40% high-strength steel. All external parts, with the exception of the sedan roof, — from hot-dip galvanized steel. Moreover, the body panels are galvanized inside to better resist condensation. Hidden cavities are protected using an anti-corrosion coating applied in the painting shop. Weight of the unpainted Lada Vesta body — 365 kg.
