They are collected in China and taken to South Korea
Hyundai has returned the «ideal taxi car» to its lineup. Accepting orders for the new generation Sonata Taxi has started in South Korea.
Hyundai announced last year that it would no longer produce such cars, apparently due to financial reasons. But the car was released in an updated version, thanks to the Chinese partner. Cars are supplied to South Korea from China. This is a Chinese-assembled car — they are produced at the Beijing-Hyundai plant.
Sonata Taxi bears its name for a reason. The car differs from the regular Sonata, and quite noticeably. Firstly, the Taxi version is 3.5 cm longer, the car has more wear-resistant seat upholstery, different tires and special equipment, including illumination of the area around the car, and most importantly, more classic units. Under the hood there is a two-liter engine that can consume propane and produces 146 hp. power, and as a gearbox — classic six-speed hydromechanics.
Prices for such a car in Korea start at $16,300, and this is 20% cheaper than the regular Sonata version.
