Apple подала в суд на экс-инженера iOS, который «сливал» данные о Vision Pro и других продуктах журналистам

Former iOS software engineer Andrew Ode is accused of leaking information about more than a dozen policies and Apple products – including the Journal app and Vision Pro headset.

“Mr. Od frequently took and saved screenshots of his messages on his work iPhone to preserve them for posterity,” says the lawsuit, cited by 9to5mac.

Aud also reportedly sent “thousands of messages” to journalists from The Information and The Wall Street Journal.

“According to his Apple-issued work iPhone, Mr. Ode had more than 1,400 encrypted communications with just one WSJ journalist over a four-month period,” Apple’s lawsuit states. “He also sent The Information journalist more than 10,000 text messages from his work iPhone and traveled across the continent to meet her.”

The complaint provides several examples of cooperation:

Around April 2023, Mr. Aude read out an email over the phone to a WSJ reporter (aka “Homeboy”) with the final list of features for an unannounced Apple app. He did this even though the email was explicitly stated to be “confidential” and Apple “only had one chance” to make a “first impression.”

This example and the screenshot above, which shows timing details, clearly reference a report by Aaron Tilley of The Wall Street Journal. The article was the first to reveal details about the Journal app and was published in April 2023.

In another example, a screenshot of Oda's work iPhone taken in October 2020 shows him revealing development of Apple products in the “spatial computing area” (likely in relation to the upcoming Vision Pro) to an outsider who does not work in the company.
