According to the latest guidance from the US Office of Management and Budget, all federal agencies must appoint a senior officers and governing councils that will oversee all AI used within the system.

The Office's press release gives several examples:

- When AI is used in the federal health care system to support critical diagnostic decisions, a human oversees the process of validating the tools' results.
- AI can be used to detect fraud in public services under human supervision when important decisions are made, and victims can seek compensation for the troubles caused by AI.
“If an agency cannot apply these safeguards, it must cease using an artificial intelligence system unless a director can justify why it will increase safety or security risks generally, or create an unacceptable impediment to the agency's critical operations,” the press release states. -release.
