Unclear whether it will hit the market
Compal has introduced a very unusual tablet or, as they are now called, a hybrid laptop.
The device is a concept, and it is unclear whether it will go into production. Considering Compal is an OEM, perhaps we'll see something similar under a different brand.
Rover Play is technically a tablet that you can attach a keyboard to for a laptop-like experience. But that’s not what’s interesting here. As you can see in the images, the tablet has unusual elements on the back that can be called wings, legs, petals or whatever, but the manufacturer calls them FlexiRear Controller.
Not only are they folded so as not to protrude from the body, but they are also equipped with ultrasonic sensors, which turns these elements into controllers. The image above shows exactly how they can be used.
In theory, this should be much more convenient than a regular tablet, but whether such a device is really convenient to hold in your hands by such elements is completely unclear.
