Results for the first quarter 2024
Apple lost the title of the largest smartphone supplier to South Korean Samsung, as stated in a new study by IDC.
At the end of the first quarter, iPhone shipments decreased by about 10% amid increased competition with Android smartphones. It is worth noting that in December Apple overtook Samsung and headed this rating.
In the first quarter of this year, Apple shipped 50.1 million iPhones, and a year earlier the result was 55.4 million units. Despite the deterioration of Apple's position in China, sales there decreased by only 2.1%, so the decline was mainly due to other regions.
Samsung's share was 20.8%, Apple took 17.3% of the global smartphone market, and Xiaomi accounted for 14.1%.
In total, about 289.4 million smartphones were shipped in the first quarter, which is 7.8% more than a year earlier.
