The country's authorities are going to prevent this from happening
Japanese authorities are investigating violations committed by the Nissan Motor Corporation, which for many years underestimated payments to its contractors.
The amount of these underpayments with interest is about $26 million dollars, and the list of victims includes more than 30 companies that supply various parts for the company’s machines. This was the largest violation of its kind in Japanese history since World War II.
Nissan Motor admitted the violation of the law, explaining it with a desire to reduce production costs. The company claims that it has already returned underpaid amounts to contractors. The authorities intend to issue an official warning to Nissan Motor demanding that they take measures to prevent similar violations in the future.
This incident was not the first scandal in the Japanese automobile industry. In 2023, it was revealed that Daihatsu, part of the Toyota Motor group, had distorted data from crash tests and other tests related to vehicle safety. As a result, Toyota Motor was forced to stop the operation of some production lines. Production has fully resumed today.
