They are equipped with “faux upholstery with nappa leather effect”
Mercedes-Benz has released official images and details of the new Mercedes CLE convertible with a power folding fabric roof.
The Mercedes CLE Cabriolet, which sits below the pricey SL, is touted as the largest car in its segment. The four-seater model has a length of 4851 mm, a width of 1859 mm and a height of 1422 mm, as well as a long wheelbase of 2865 mm.
The standard seats are wrapped in what Mercedes calls “faux nappa leather-effect upholstery.” For an additional fee, you can choose genuine leather with a special coating that protects from sun rays on a hot summer day. The German luxury brand conducted tests that showed that in direct sunlight, the temperature of the seats was 12°C lower than the same seats without covering.
The Mercedes CLE convertible features an electrically deployable Aircap system, which means a wind deflector above the windshield redirects air over the heads of passengers. Additionally, there is an automatic wind deflector behind the rear seats to reduce turbulence.
Mercedes will sell the car with a black, red or gray fabric roof. The multi-layer acoustic soft top takes 20 seconds to raise or lower during the procedure, which can be performed while the car is traveling at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The vehicle comes standard with a power roller separator that separates the folded fabric top from the cargo area.
The new car will be available with a diesel engine. The 220d uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a mild hybrid setup. The 200, 200 4Matic and 300 4Matic petrol models also feature 48V technology to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
The diesel Mercedes CLE 220d Cabriolet will offer 194 hp. and 440 Nm of torque. The CLE 200 model has a power of 201 hp. and 320 Nm. The CLE 300 4Matic has 255 hp. and 400 Nm. The more powerful CLE 450 4Matic Convertible offers a 3.0-liter inline-six petrol engine, also with a built-in mild hybrid. Customers get 375 hp. and 369 Nm, which is enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 s.
In Germany, the convertible costs from 66,402 euros, and for the six-cylinder model they ask for up to 88,357 euros.
