They promised to present a full-fledged working Belarusian electric car to the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko by the end of 2023, as reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Pyotr Parkhomchik.

“One of the main tasks is to fulfill the order of the head of state to organize the production of a domestic electric car by the end of 2025… We plan that by the end of this year the head of state will be shown a working sample of the first electric car,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The Belarusian-Chinese plant Belji is bringing a Belarusian-made electric car to the market. In June of this year, a sample of a car with a gasoline engine was transferred to the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences for its conversion to electric power.

Parkhomchik added that Belgi is increasing production because there are prerequisites for this in the market. As a result, they plan to increase the capacity to 120 thousand cars per year with a two-shift operating mode.

“If last year the plant produced 25 thousand cars, then this year it produced 60,199 cars, that is, the annual target, which was set at 60 thousand, has already been fulfilled. We sold 59,982 cars, almost 80% of them to the Russian Federation,” Parkhomchik said.
