The developers of the roguelike, released on May 6 in early access, also made Hermes Asian and put Hephaestus in a wheelchair
Reddit users are not very happy with the way Supergiant Games treated the pantheon of Greek gods in Hades 2. Players do not understand why they made Hermes Asian and awarded the goddess of the family hearth and sacrificial fire Hestia with a skin disease affecting pigmentation under called vitiligo.
Even a Reddit moderator joined the indignant public, bursting into a tirade:
“I'm damn tired of the ridiculous fetishization of vitiligo.
My wife has vitiligo due to an autoimmune disease. She's white, so it doesn't really stand out. Do you think she's very happy that her skin is changing color in places? Do you think she's amused when strangers ask what's wrong with her?
She says it's damn contagious so they can get away from her quickly. Over time she has become more responsive to questions, but she has had the spots for over ten years and would happily choose to live without them.
Turning a disease into a fashion trend is reprehensible. I know several other people with this condition, and they all face discrimination that they would like to avoid. Now a bunch of internet morons think it's “cute.” No, it's not cute. This is devastating for those who can stare in the mirror week after week at their skin losing pigmentation without being able to stop it.
Sorry. This sucks just pisses me off.”.
Previously, Kotaku journalists were already happy that Hephaestus in Hades 2 became a wheelchair user.< /p>
