General Director of the state corporation «Roscosmos» Yuri Borisov visited OKB «Fakel» in Kaliningrad. There they completed the repair and technical re-equipment of the workshop for the production of engines for satellites of the Sfera project. Federal project «Sphere» aimed at developing high-speed Internet and communications in Russia, it provides for the creation of several multi-satellite constellations.
After receiving permission from Rostechnadzor to put the facility into operation, all production equipment will be moved to the new workshop. It will launch serial production of thermocatalytic engines for spacecraft of the «Sfera» system. A new building is also being built on the territory of the enterprise, in which it is planned to organize the serial assembly of engines for spacecraft using the conveyor principle. Construction is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
Creation of serial production of spacecraft — This is the main priority in our work today. Transfer of satellite production to the conveyor — This is an absolute necessity; slipway assembly should remain only for unique, single devices at the level of interplanetary stations or space observatories. This is the only way we can provide customers — both public and private — the required number of high-quality spacecraft at a competitive price.
