In May, BYD sold 331,817 new energy vehicles
This year, Tesla is unlikely to be able to compete with BYD: at least for now, the statistics are clearly on the side of the Chinese company. In May of this year, BYD sold 331 817 cars— 38.13% more than in May 2023. Total sales of BYD cars since the beginning of 2024 (that is, for five months) amounted to 1 271 325 cars — 26.8% more than last year.
For comparison, Tesla produced 433 371 cars in the first quarter of this year, while 386 810 cars were delivered to customers. In other words, BYD now sells almost as many cars per month as Tesla — for three months.
Recall that this week BYD dealt a serious blow to Toyota: the Chinese presented the advanced fifth-generation DM hybrid system, the parameters of which are better than Japanese hybrid systems.
