Google has not announced when the tool will be available to users outside the US
When Google announced it was shutting down the Google Podcasts app, the company said it would release a tool in the coming weeks to easily transfer subscriptions to YouTube Music or other platforms. The tool is now starting to roll out to users in the US.
The subscription export tool is available to users on the Google Podcasts website and mobile app. To start the process, you need to select «Export subscriptions» at the top of the page. Then you need to go to «Export to YouTube Music» and click «Export». Afterwards you need to select «Transfer» in the YouTube Music app and «Continue». It is also possible to download subscriptions as an OPML file or via Google Takeout for transfer to another platform.
Google notes that the transfer process may take some time and that not all podcasts may be available on YouTube Music. But you can save missing shows to your library via a link to the podcast's RSS feed.
At this time, only US listeners have access to the export tool. However, Google plans to expand its geographic coverage over time. There is no reason for haste or panic yet. Earlier in December, Google announced that Google Podcasts can be used for listening until March 2024, and until July 2024 — export subscriptions.
