F1 24 promised the largest physics update in the history of the series

Codemasters has brought huge physics changes to F1 24, calling them the biggest update in the history of the series.

Dynamic controls developed in collaboration with three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen.

They include a new suspension physics system thanks to new kinematic models representing F1 and F2 cars. Models simulate dynamic changes in camber and steering angle, including precise steering geometry and the Ackermann effect.

The tire model has also been improved: contact with the road has become more realistic in combination with changes to the suspension, and heating and wear of the tires have become more reliable – the effect of driving on wet roads is enhanced. Aerodynamics simulation has also been improved. Chassis angle has a greater impact on downforce and drag, making suspension height adjustment a key element for optimization.

Computational fluid dynamics and virtual wind tunnel are used to create more realistic airflow and DRS effects. Improved aerodynamics more effectively showcase the individual strengths and weaknesses of teams in F1 24 across different circuits.

The player will be able to control the operating mode and performance of the engine thanks to the updated power unit. Adjustable engine braking affects energy savings when braking and decelerating.

Improved throttle mapping reduces energy loss and gives the player greater control over energy levels. All ERS (Energy Recovery System) modes are available to F1 24 players in all sessions, and the new differential model will allow for more precise adjustment to changing conditions.

F1 24 promised the largest physics update in the history of the series

F1 24 will be released May 31, 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X.
