New benchmark results for Huawei's upcoming server processor have emerged, showing performance levels that rival AMD's Zen 3 cores.

The processor was spotted on the Geekbench platform, although its exact name is still being kept secret. However, its performance hints that Huawei is keeping pace with leading processor makers such as AMD and Intel.

The processor in question was tested on Geekbench using a single core, which is believed to be the Taishan V120, developed by Huawei subsidiary HiSilicon. The V120 core first appeared in the Huawei Kirin 9000s smartphone chip used in the Mate 60 series.

The latest Geekbench 6 result also suggests that the Taishan V120 core is likely manufactured on a second-generation 7nm node, similar to the Kirin 9000s chips. In terms of performance, the Taishan V120 scored a respectable 1527 in the single-core test, slightly behind the AMD Epyc 7413 and Intel Xeon E-2136. However, newer chips from both AMD (Epyc 9554) and Intel (Xeon w9-3495X) significantly outperform it.

The mention of Huawei Cloud OpenStack Nova implies that it could be a Kunpeng server processor, possibly a Kunpeng 916, 920 or 930. Tom's Hardware is leaning towards it being a Kunpeng 930 due to its higher single-core performance.
