SEGA will lay off 13% of its American workforce, media reports say

SEGA will send 61 employees of its American branch to the labor exchange, which is slightly more than 13% of the total number of office employees.

Information about this appeared on What Layoff page on social network X, which is run by a bot that posts information about layoffs in various states and companies.

Sega of America will lay off 61 employees on March 8, according to a California WARN Notice 2024.

WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) is a bill requiring companies to notify workers 60 days in advance of a mass layoff.

VGC journalists were able to contact with the California Department of Employment Development and confirm that SEGA has indeed notified employees of two waves of layoffs that will take place on March 8th and will affect first 49 employees and then another 12.
