Some of them are due to the Chinese hot air balloon over the USA
The United States decided to impose new sanctions on China, this time related to quantum computing.
The Commerce Department has added 37 Chinese quantum technology organizations to its Export Administration Regulations Entity List, thereby limiting the flow of U.S. resources to these organizations.
The companies were sanctioned either because of their involvement in quantum computing research, which the US considers a potential threat to national security, or because of last year's spy balloon incident. < /p>
22 of the companies on the list are directly linked to China's Ministry of Commerce and government efforts to promote quantum research or attempts to acquire American technology for quantum computing.
Another 11 companies made the list because of their involvement with a Chinese hot air balloon that was spotted in US airspace last year. Four more companies were allegedly looking for quantum technologies for use in military unmanned aircraft systems.
