Microsoft continues to reveal details about the update
Microsoft has revealed new details about the innovations that will appear in the major Windows 11 24H2 update.
One of the new features that will feature integrated artificial intelligence is PowerToys. It will be called PowerToys Advanced Paste with Local AI, and will be connected to the clipboard.
AI Explorer will also appear. This is a more modern analogue of the Timeline function, which at one time appeared in Windows 10 and was then removed. The function allows you to view the history of all user work with the PC. AI Explorer will supposedly work with all applications, and the processing of the corresponding data will go directly to the NPU.
Apparently, in all cases it is assumed that AI tasks will be processed locally on a PC, but there is no exact data on this yet. At a minimum, you need to understand that dedicated NPU units are only found in the latest mobile CPUs Intel Core Ultra and Ryzen 7040/8040.
Recall that for current Windows users, the 24H2 update will be available in the fall, but buyers of future laptops based on the Snapdragon X Elite SoC will receive these same laptops with the updated Windows — this will happen in the middle of the year.
