The function is already being tested

Microsoft has begun testing optical text recognition capabilities in the Phone Link application. In test builds of Windows 11 in the Beta and Dev channels of the Windows Insider program, Phone Link version number 1.24051.91.0 is available with the new feature activated.

The latest version of the Phone Link app in Windows 11 allows you to extract useful text snippets from photos taken on your Android phone and copy them directly to your computer.

Note that text recognition has long been available in the Google Photos application for all Android users. The feature also works on the Google Photos website.

Microsoft is constantly improving Phone Link, adding new useful features. For example, in late February 2024, the company introduced the ability to use an Android phone as a webcam on a Windows 11 PC via Phone Link.
