Complaints from consumers are constantly coming in, the antimonopoly service is waiting for voluntary elimination of violations

The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, Maxim Shaskolsky, said that the online platforms Wildberries and Ozon occupy a dominant position in the marketplace market: their share is about 80%. He spoke about this at a meeting with representatives of the association «Non-profit partnership "Association of Corporate Lawyers"», marketplaces and copyright holders.

According to Shaskolsky, in December last year the FAS completed an analysis of the state of competition in the marketplace market, where “naturally, Wildberries and Ozon” established a collective dominant position. The head of the FAS also said that the agency constantly receives quite a lot of complaints about the work of marketplaces from consumers, as well as small and medium-sized businesses; most often they complain about inflated logistics costs, the imposition of unfavorable conditions and the imposition of fines.

Shaskolsky noted that the Government of the Russian Federation is now decree No. 448, which introduces a moratorium on inspections of IT companies. Therefore, in order to avoid negative consequences, the FAS works with companies to voluntarily eliminate violations: it sends them letters and holds meetings. The result of such joint work should be the voluntary elimination of violations, he believes.
