And the output of the serial SJ-100 slows down the PD-8 engine, which has not yet confirmed its characteristics in tests
This week it became known that in 2024 there will be no production MS-21 and SJ-100 aircraft — the deadlines have been shifted a year or two to the right (2025-2026). The Ministry of Industry and Trade explained the new release dates for serial MC-21 and SJ-100 with thoughts about passenger safety. But the publication «Kommersant» citing its sources, reports a big problem with the MC-21-310: it turned out that the Russian airframe of this airliner turned out to be significantly heavier than the previous one, which used foreign components. The difference is decent — MS-21-310 added 5.75 tons relative to MS-21-300.
More mass — shorter flight range. According to Kommersant sources, with a maximum payload of 20.3 tons, the flight range of the MC-21-310 now does not exceed 2.8 thousand km (for comparison, the flight range of the more compact SuperJet 100-95B in a two-class layout reaches 2960 km). Some sources even say that the heavier MC-21-310 is not able to fly even 2 thousand km. And the maximum height to which the MS-21-310 can rise, — only 7 thousand meters.
«Without reducing the weight of the aircraft itself and its systems, according to an interlocutor in the aviation industry, achieving the planned flight performance characteristics will be unattainable& ;raquo;, — writes «Kommersant».
As for the SJ-100, its weak point — Russian PD-8 engine. It is reported that it has not yet confirmed its characteristics in tests.
