“We don’t hire 100 workers for the sake of an illusion for shareholders.” The authors of No Place for the Wicked explained the low price tag of the game

A harsh role-playing action game from the Moon studio, responsible for the Ori duology, will cost buyers $40

The head of Moon Studios, Thomas Mahler, in a conversation with reporters, explained why the studio is not going to inflate the price tag of No Place for the Wicked. According to Mahler, what it comes down to is that Moon employees share the view that games have become unreasonably expensive, and the company has never sought uncontrolled expansion in an attempt to create the illusion of growth for shareholders.

“We've been hearing gamers complain for quite some time now that $70 is the new normal. We also regularly see $70 games with microtransactions, and players usually hate it.”

“I I also oppose some of the ridiculous things that happen to developers charging $65 or more for purely cosmetic items.”

“We try to be as efficient as possible. We don't hire hundreds of people just to create the illusion of growth for shareholders. We have no shareholders. If we can produce better games at a lower cost, and thus charge lower prices, that's a sign that we're doing something right.”.

No Rest for the Wicked will be released in Early Access on April 18th. The game will cost $40.
