Warhammer 40,000 Darktide started out pretty loud, but then all sorts of unpleasant nuances began to emerge. Fatshark is trying to fix the game
At the end of 2022, Warhammer 40,000 Darktide was released. The ambitious cooperative action game Fatshark was not in the best technical condition; the community also had an impressive number of questions about the game mechanics.
Fatshark has experience in supporting and developing similar cooperative projects, for example, a couple of Warhammer Vermintide 2, so at first some community members believed that the studio would be able to “pull out” Warhammer 40,000 Darktide.
However, in 2024 there are still significant problems. Recently, the Warhammer 40,000 Darktide community experienced another “fire” as Fatshark, almost 1.5 years after release, announced plans for upcoming changes and mentioned an issue that players had been talking about since launch.
They plan to rework the itemization process: “With the new system, we want to eliminate the unpredictable grind that arose when using a system with a large amount of [random element], and give players more options and constant a way to progress towards certain equipment, blessings and stat improvements.” They also plan to add new missions and improvements in 2024.
In the near future, we plan to improve and expand the system of repentance (in-game tests): we intend to introduce additional rewards and a new way to receive them. The authors of Warhammer 40,000 Darktide should share details at the end of March.
Judging by the players’ reactions, they are already tired of such promises from the Warhammer 40,000 Darktide team and want to see more deeds rather than words .
