Nvidia has launched a new RTX Video HDR feature for all RTX GPU holders. Just as RTX Video Super Resolution improves the quality of old blurry videos, RTX Video HDR uses artificial intelligence to transform standard SDR video into HDR (high dynamic range, which allows certain areas of the image to be heavily highlighted). Requires only HDR10 compatible monitor and HDR mode in Windows settings.
RTX Video HDR is part of the 551.23 Game Ready driver release for the new RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card.
Owners of HDR monitors and RTX cards can download the latest Nvidia drivers and enable RTX Video HDR in the Nvidia Control Panel, reports The Verge.
Similar to Nvidia's other AI features, RTX Video HDR requires an RTX card as the technology uses Tensor Cores, which Nvidia pioneered in RTX 20-series GPUs. Nvidia also uses AI techniques for its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) system to improve frame rates and image quality in games. In 2022, Nvidia also launched Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution (DLDSR) to improve image quality by rendering games at higher resolutions. Nvidia Broadcast also includes Eye Contact, which uses artificial intelligence to create the appearance of eye contact during video calls.
