One of the most important aspects of Unreal Engine 5.4 is the promise of improved performance.
For gamers, this should mean more frames per second, as well as more varied and detailed graphical environments. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the comparison of ray tracing in the new and old versions of the engine.
The author of the SFILMZ channel has prepared a video that demonstrates the differences between the two engines (5.3 and 5.4). Using the same scene with the same settings in a hardware accelerated scenario, JSFILMZ demonstrated how Screen Traces affect the quality of screen space reflections. He concluded that in the new version the reflections in the puddle became worse. This is probably what improves performance.
More detailed information about UE 5.4 is on the official website.
