Unlocking your video card, almost like the good old days. Brazilian craftsmen turned the Radeon RX 5600 XT into an RX 5700 with 16 GB of memory

The performance increase was almost 30%

Modern processors and video cards can very rarely be significantly changed in at least some way. It turns out there is an exception. Enthusiasts from Brazil were able to add memory to the Radeon RX 5600 XT video card and even expand the bus.

Radeon RX 5600 XT by default offers a Navi 10 GPU with 2304 stream processors and 6 GB of memory with a 192-bit bus. At the same time, the RX 5700 relies on the same GPU with the same number of active units, but is already equipped with 8 GB of memory and a 256-bit bus. That is, the graphics processor itself has a 256-bit bus. And they managed to unblock it.

The modders from the Paulo Gomes team did a very difficult job, but they actually turned the RX 5600 XT into an RX 5700, and even better. In the process, they added another 10 GB of memory to the card, that is, the total volume was 16 GB. True, the resulting performance increase is due precisely to the wider bus, and not to the amount of memory.

As a result, after all the modifications and additional overclocking, we managed to increase performance by 29%, which is unattainable using conventional methods on any other modern video card.

However, 29% — this is not much, given the complexity of the process, so such an unlocking will not become widespread.
