The new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport will officially debut on May 31, but the manufacturer has already shown the car, albeit in camouflage.
The Golf GTI Clubsport features a new front fascia and redesigned headlights, plus a large VW badge on the grille. At the rear, there's a large roof spoiler positioned above the new taillights, and the rear end is similar to the Golf R, albeit with single tailpipes at the corners. It will be equipped with new 19-inch wheels, and lightweight Warmenau forged wheels are available as an option.
Mechanical changes are still largely a mystery, although Volkswagen promises the Clubsport will be the most powerful front-wheel drive GTI ever and will be equipped with a high-quality sports suspension. The previous model, which debuted in 2020, had a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 296 hp. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and eLSD transmission. Restyling may lead to an increase in power.
Power control will be provided by an electronically controlled front differential lock, while DCC adaptive chassis control is optional. There is also a special driving mode, exclusive to Clubsport, designed specifically for the Nürburgring circuit.
