Its release is scheduled for 2026
The successor to the Kia Stinger, codenamed GT1, will go into production in 2026 and will be based on a new electric vehicle platform, carscoops reports.
In mid-2023, Hyundai announced a platform called the Integrated Modular Platform (IMA), but new documents refer to it simply as the eM platform. The platform is expected to debut with the new Genesis GV90 in 2025, after which Hyundai and Kia will release their own models based on this architecture.
Details have come to light thanks to a leaked document, which indicates that the car will have a twin-motor powertrain producing up to 603 hp. It will be more powerful than the EV6 GT, which received a 577-horsepower power plant. Other GT1 variants are expected to range from 215 to 429 hp
The engines will be powered by a massive battery with a capacity of 113.2 kW·h. For comparison, the EV9 battery capacity is only 99.8 kW·h. According to a leaked Kia document, this setup is expected to allow the GT1 to travel up to 800 km on a single charge.
GT1 production is scheduled to begin in 2026 at Kia's Hwaseong plant.
