Production of rolled products will definitely resume
«Automobile plant AGR», which resumed production of cars under the new Solaris brand in St. Petersburg, turned to Hyundai partners to begin cooperation on the supply of rolled steel and engines.
The Korean Economic Daily confirms information that the South Korean steel manufacturer Hyundai Steel, part of Hyundai Motor, will resume production of rolled automotive steel in Russia. The decision to resume production was made after orders for steel were received from the new owner of the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg, as well as against the backdrop of losses that the company has been incurring since Hyundai left Russia in March 2022.
In addition, «AGR Automobile Plant» sent a request to Hyundai WIA for engine production, but so far the decision to restart the production site in Sestroretsk has not been made, as we have already reported.
Earlier, the plant announced the start of shipments of the first batches of Solaris cars.
