The new generation of the Beijing BJ212 army SUV is already being tested on public roads. We have already published photographs of camouflaged prototypes, and some details were published by Aurto.ru.
It is not yet clear under which brand the new model will be released. Currently it is presented under the Beijing brand, the rights to which belong to the BAIC concern, but the development and production of BJ212 is carried out by BAW, which has been independent for several years.
In Russia, the Beijing BJ212 is called the «Chinese UAZ», because its design, traced for about 60 years, is inspired by the Soviet GAZ-69 SUV. Outwardly, it resembles the modern UAZ-469, which is now known as Hunter.
According to available information, the new model will have an all-metal body and will be larger and more spacious compared to the previous version. It is expected that it will be equipped with spring suspension at the front and rear, while the frame structure will be retained. The car has a familiar design with round LED headlights, signature front fenders and an angular body, as well as a spare tire hanging on the fifth door.
An example of the new BAW BJ212 SUV was demonstrated at the exhibition «Comtrans» in Moscow in September 2023. They plan to import this car into Russia under a parallel import scheme and sell it at a price of about 4 million rubles.
