First generation change in 60 years
Beijing Automobile Manufacturing introduced the BAW 212 frame SUV in China. It is the successor to the BAW BJ212 SUV, which traces its history back to the Soviet GAZ-69 and UAZ-469. The first generation change in 60 years turned out to be radical: BAW 212 — modern SUV, retro-styled.
The car received a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with 252 hp, an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system with two differential locks and a low-range range. The approach angle is an impressive 40°, departure angle — 36°. Dimensions of the car — 4705 x 1895 x 2070 mm with a wheelbase length of 2860 mm.
In the cabin there is a modern three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a media system with a large screen, leather seats with electrical adjustments. Control of transmission operating modes is displayed on keys.
Sales of BAW 212 will start by the end of the year, the price has not yet been announced. The company said that it intends to turn one car into a line — a three-door version and a pickup truck will be released.
