Honda Civic Type R owners have virtually no complaints about the engines
The Honda K20C1 found in the Honda Civic Type R is the most reliable turbocharged four-cylinder engine ever built, according to HotCars research.
This is a 2.0-liter gasoline unit that produces up to 306 hp. and 295 Nm of maximum torque. Honda engineers are constantly updating it, and now it is also used in the Civic Type R models and the new Acura Integra Type-S.
The engine is the latest in a long line of K-series four-cylinder powerplants produced by the Japanese manufacturer since 2001. The K-series engine, equipped with VTEC, has found its way into many Honda vehicles such as the Honda S2000, Civic, Si and Type-R models and all other models. Many of these engines were naturally aspirated, although the 2015 K20C1 was turbocharged.
Owners of Honda Civic Type R equipped with the K20C1 engine report almost no problems with the engines. Sometimes minor oil leaks may occur. Some people drive such cars for more than 200,000 km without a single engine problem.
